Just Got Back

I just got back from a 3 day beach camp. Left on Boxing Day. That was so relaxing. I'll post more about it tomorrow when I'm in a more reflective writing mood. I'd write about it now but I'm too tiiiired. I miss that beach right now. It kinda sucks being home right now, being so used to the beach scenario and its calming power. I don't know if you know what I mean. I loved the whole stay though.
I'm sunburned though. I think I only got sunburned this afternoon. I hate getting sunburned. I look about 3 shades darker. Shit.

Anyway, later.

YO

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I haven't updated in a while. I'm rusty with this.
Anyway, this is the first time I've spent Christmas with my family in 4 years, except my dad's not here, he's working in Haiti. But yeah we had a good dinner at home last night. I slept late so I got up late, just 30 minutes ago. I'm eating my lunch right now (it's 6:26pm). Mashed potatoes and roast beef with gravy.

I hope everybody's swell.

Stay blessed.

La Haine

You should watch this French film from 1995. I just watched it. A friend recommended it to me and I thought it was awesome. I have yet to watch a terrible French movie.

Random Recommend

I just finished watching this and thought I'd recommend it to everyone. It's beyond great. I liked it instantly and not just because Zooey's in it. You should let me know what you think once you see it. This is definitely an immediate addition to my favorite movies.

And I guess since I recommended that, I should go ahead and recommend these too, since I've been indulging in movies that just came out on DVD. I won't say much about them. Just recommending.

Adventureland! I know it's directed by the guy who did Superbad, but it's nothing like Superbad. It's really laid-back and mellow actually. Good to watch on a lazy night. Great acting. You'd like it for what it is.

Yeah I'm a sucker for indie films. But good ones of course. Some of this takes place in Montreal, just so you Canadians know. This one goes from being fun to mellow. It's sweet though.
I just searched and found out the director directed American Beauty, Road to Perdition, and Jarhead. Crazy. I never would have guessed. This is so different from all those.

This whole movie takes place in Toronto. They don't say it, but I knew immediately from the first shot, somehow. It just reminded me of Toronto and then a few minutes into it, I saw the CN Tower and knew. This is a crazy compelling movie. Some parts felt awkward and loose, but the film was a great idea.

Goodbye Solo I mostly enjoyed because the main character's African and he has that cool African accent. You'll get what I'm talking about. It's such a good movie too. I wanna see more of the director's movies.

As for these two, they're really compelling documentaries. Waltz With Bashir is amazing. It's animated and in Hebrew. It's so great. Really visually stunning.
Trouble the Water is about Hurricane Katrina, from the perspective of these two victims who filmed what they went through during the flood. So, it really shows you how people suffered. It's really REAL and you'll wish you could have done something to help. Watch it now.

Fresh Beats

Just got 2 fresh beats out the oven! This one I just made like 10 hours ago. Somehow I can't get enough of it. It's just really chill and reminds me of fall, like orange leaves and driving around in the city or hanging out at a park. Had to post it up. I threw in snippets from an old Alfred Hitchcock interview I found. Thought that would be interesting. This is going into my album too.

Still Waters Run Deep - Skeematic Spaz

This one I made yesterday. I threw in some dialogue from the movie The Hangover. Maybe you'll enjoy it whether you've seen it or not. I'm not sure this will be part of my album. Prolly not, but I think it'd be a good treat as a demo or a free single to share with people.

Goin Beyond (Never Again) - Skeematic Spaz

Album

My album's pretty much shaping up! I've got 18 tracks listed so far, which consists of plain instrumentals and 4 skits. I showed half of the album to Michael and he loves it. Apparently he was listening to it in the bus on his way to school and he was nodding his head to the beats. I'm glad he likes it. He said it's underground. He's gonna be on at least 2 tracks. This is the album cover:

Anyway, now I'm in the process of starting to write lyrics. It'll take a while to completely finish writing every song. I'm guessing about 2 months or more. Def gonna take my time. I'm thinking of recording a demo track sometime soon just so I have something out. It's been so long. Michael recorded a track just the other day and it sounds so good, it made me want to come out with one too.
Here's the latest beat I made a few hours ago that I just added to my album: (press play)

Imaginations in Flight - Skeematic Spaz

The intro is a sample I took from one of my favorite movies, Waking Life. If you haven't seen it, do it!

Steph, I think you know where that picture's from!
